Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 Gets Physical Switch Release

Limited Run Games is preparing a physical release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 for Nintendo Switch, years after the collection first launched.

The first Mega Man X Legacy Collection was sold at retail, but only its first half was on the cartridge. The second collection was only offered as a download code.

Limited Run Games is now preparing a proper physical release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2. There will be a standard edition, a double pack with Mega Man X Legacy Collection, and a Maverick Hunter Edition with extra goodies.

This collection covers four games from the series: Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8. Both X and Zero are playable, with X using his arm cannon and Zero using his energy saber. It adds an X Challenge mode, where you face two bosses at once, plus a museum with production art, classic merchandise catalogs, and a playlist of old commercials. It also includes an animated prequel film about Sigma.

The original collection includes Mega Man X, X2, X3, and X4, covering both the 16-bit era and the series' move into 32-bit. X gets stronger as he defeats Mavericks and takes their weapons, and he can dash and wall jump. It shares the same new X Challenge mode and museum as the second collection. Pre-orders for the Mega Man X Legacy Collection physical release open on November 12, 2026.
