Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Tech Analysis Details Surface

New technical details about the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time have surfaced, including its frame rate and resolution. The information comes from a new analysis by Digital Foundry.

Earlier this year we reported that Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Doesn't Seem To Include Master Quest, so this is a fresh look at how the game performs.

The remake targets 60 frames per second, and the frame rate is extremely stable. Resolution goes up to 1440p in handheld and docked modes with dynamic scaling, dropping to around 1080p when docked. Handheld mode ranges between 1080p and 720p. The game does not use DLSS and relies on SMAA with FSR1.

The analysis also covers the game's visual changes. The remake gets proper physically based materials, more detailed foliage and architecture, and an updated global illumination system. Navi now acts as a light source, and broken pots leave shards that stay in place. Castle Town is now fully seamless, and Link can move in a full 360 degrees while climbing.

The remake also brings voice acting in cutscenes, new sound effects and an orchestrated soundtrack. Compared with the original game, which ran at 20 frames per second, and the 3DS remaster, which ran at 30, this is a large step up. Additional coverage of the frame rate, resolution and more is available in the video below.
