Zelda Ocarina Of Time Remake Reportedly Built On Tears Of The Kingdom Engine

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was previously known internally at Nintendo as Owl, before its official announcement. Reports now suggest the game is built on the same engine as Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo's internal ModuleSystem game engine is reportedly the one used for Tears of the Kingdom, and the Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 is said to use it too. That would mean the remake was built off the Tears of the Kingdom engine. This is based on online reports, so it is not yet confirmed by Nintendo.

Earlier this year, we reported that Monolith Soft Details Its Role In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake. Monolith Soft has confirmed it worked on the remake and shared the news on social media.

The remake is listed with a November 6, 2026 date in the reports this item draws on. Seven tracks from the remake have also been added to Nintendo Music, and until now only the Title Theme was available on the service.
