Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Version 2.0.0 Update Out Now

SEGA has released a version 2.0.0 update for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. It is available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, and it should be live now if it isn't already.

The update brings a large amount of new content and features, along with adjustments, improvements and fixes. The new Duel Mode lets you take on other racers in 1-on-1 matches, both offline and online. A Duel Boost gauge fills as time passes and as you use items, and once it is full you can press the button to boost ahead. Offline, you can face CPU CrossOver racers, and defeating them unlocks the racer Bayonetta. Limited-time Duel events award Duel Medals, which can be exchanged for horns, auras and other rewards. You can also play a Friend Match with someone nearby, and on Switch and Switch 2 that mode works over Local Wireless.

A 7th Gadget slot called the Super Slot is added, and it amplifies the effects of your Gadgets. To use it, you need to unlock the Grand Master Plate by racing at least 40 times. Players who already meet that condition can use the Super Slot as soon as they install the patch.

Play Missions are also new. Complete them by their deadlines to earn Donpa Tickets and Duel Medals. You need an Internet connection to take part.

A new in-game Shop lets you exchange Donpa Tickets and Duel Medals for auras, horns, decals, characters, titles and Jukebox tracks. The lineup will be updated over time.

The main menu has been reorganised. World Match now leads to Legend Competition, Ranked Match and Free Match. Free Matches don't affect your rank, while Ranked Match keeps the original World Match experience. Matchmaking now pairs you with Rivals of similar skill, and winning those matches earns bonus Donpa Tickets.

Festivals now run for 10 days instead of 3. Festival Rankings are based on win streaks rather than Festival Points. A 1st-place finish adds one to your streak, a 2nd-place finish leaves it unchanged, and a 3rd-place finish resets it. AI Rival teams can now appear in your matches at random, and defeating them earns bonus Festival Points.

Fifteen new Gadgets are added. They become available once your Gadget Plate reaches Grand Master Plate or higher. Previous Festival rewards are also now in the Shop, and they can be bought with Donpa Tickets once your Gadget Plate reaches Master Plate or higher.

Balance changes include shorter respawn times for Rings, which should help middle-of-the-pack racers, and a recovery adjustment for Acceleration Type Machines. Power Type Machines no longer have a higher maximum speed bonus cap than other Machines. Online collisions push Machines back onto their path less strongly, and Machines keep their speed when hitting slowdown obstacles while boosting from a Dash Panel or Dash Gate. The update is available now on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.
