Civilization 7 Reportedly Used To Hack Switch 2, Physical Copies Recalled
Reports say people have been using Civilization 7 to hack Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, and 2K is reportedly recalling physical copies of the game from retail.
Switch 2 was recently jailbroken, and since then people have been running datamines, modding games and more on the console.
The hack relies on an unpatched exploit in Civilization 7. By running code through a connected USB device, users can break open the Switch 2 for homebrew apps and programs. Running dumped games isn't possible yet, but progress is moving quickly.
Reports also say some people trying to buy the physical version on Amazon have had their orders cancelled. One buyer claims the retailer cited a 2K mandate and "technical and security-related requirements" as the reason. The code-in-box version doesn't work with the exploit, so only a true physical copy will do. Nintendo and 2K have not commented on the situation yet.
