Story-Driven RPG Astral Drive Announced For Nintendo Switch
R-Games has announced Astral Drive, a story-driven RPG for Nintendo Switch, and it is targeting an early 2027 launch.
The game blends hand-drawn pixel art and deck-building mechanics into an interdimensional fantasy adventure. The developer has promised more details, including a release date, at a later point.
You play as Atlas, a young mage who investigates strange events that shook his magic academy years ago. To find the truth, he has to cross into new dimensions through astral portals, and he befriends allies along the way, each with a past of their own and abilities that join the party.
Combat is turn-based but built around Stellar Tiles, a system of magical cards. You collect spells, customise your deck and set up combos to beat creatures and large bosses, and each battle rewards careful planning. The journey takes you through seven locations, each with its own characters and lore, all drawn entirely by hand in detailed pixel art. Astral Drive is currently announced with a trailer, and the release date will be shared once it is confirmed.
