Nintendo Financial Results – September 2026 – Switch 2 at 26.35 Million, Switch at 157.20 Million, More

Nintendo has released its financial report for the first half of its fiscal year, covering April through September 2026. The company shared sales figures for both Switch 2 and the original Switch, along with its overall results.

Nintendo has been reporting these numbers for several years, and this report gives a clear picture of how its hardware and software are selling.

Switch 2 hardware sold 6.49 million units in the first half of the year. Switch 2 software sales totaled 24.49 million units, helped by Mario Kart World and Pokémon Pokopia, both released in the previous fiscal year. Star Fox sold 1.17 million units, Splatoon Raiders sold 2.42 million units, and Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave sold 1.34 million units.

Original Switch hardware sold 1.27 million units, and Switch software totaled 65.73 million units. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream sold 8.81 million units and Rhythm Heaven Groove sold 2.89 million units. Nintendo says older Switch titles also kept selling steadily, since Switch games can be played on Switch 2.

Digital sales for the dedicated platforms reached 249.6 billion yen, up 60.5% year-on-year, mainly from more downloadable versions of packaged software. IP-related sales hit 62.7 billion yen, up 87.9%, thanks to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Overall sales came to 966.0 billion yen, with 78.9% of that from outside Japan. Sales fell year-on-year because of lower hardware unit sales, but operating profit rose 49.1% to 216.5 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of the parent totaled 220.9 billion yen.
