Nintendo Discusses Mario Movies' Success, Still Teasing More Films

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has commented on the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movies, and he has again hinted at more films to come.

The two Mario movies have made over $2 billion at the box office combined, and Nintendo says the films have helped more people get to know Mario, including people in regions where its games have had limited reach.

The Legend of Zelda live-action movie is still scheduled for 2027, but very little has been shown of it so far, and a proper trailer has yet to be released. Furukawa said during a Nintendo financial results briefing:

Movies have also greatly expanded our touchpoints with consumers.

Nintendo plans to keep delivering movies in the years after Zelda, working with its partners on each film while setting up a framework for ongoing production.
