Nintendo Talks About Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Sales
Nintendo has shared some comments on how well Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has sold. The remarks came in a presentation given alongside the company's latest financial results.
Earlier today, Nintendo said the game has sold nearly nine million copies. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa noted that it has already passed the sales of the previous entry in roughly six months since launch. Nintendo said:
a single title can sometimes have a major impact on our business as a whole.
The company also said the game has reached more people around the world than it expected. It added that a game with this kind of pull can bring new players to the series, including people who do not often play games, and can help drive hardware sales for the whole platform.
A chart in the presentation breaks down the series' unit sales between Japan and overseas. The first title came out only in Japan in 2009, and Tomodachi Life was the release that took the series overseas. As of the end of September 2026, Living the Dream had sold a cumulative 8.83 million units worldwide.
