Shigeru Miyamoto First In Gaming Industry To Receive Japan's Order Of Culture Award

Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has announced that Shigeru Miyamoto will receive the 2026 Order of Culture award. He is the first person from the gaming industry to get it.

The award recognises nearly 50 years of Miyamoto's work at Nintendo, which started with designing the original Donkey Kong arcade game in 1981.

Miyamoto said he accepts the award on behalf of the whole team and considers himself very lucky.
