Eiji Aonuma Honoured By France For Video Game Contributions

Eiji Aonuma, the producer of The Legend of Zelda, has received France's Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters. He is the second Nintendo employee to be given the honour.

The award is given by the French Ministry of Culture to people who have achieved outstanding work in art, media and literature. Shigeru Miyamoto received the same honour in 2006, so Aonuma follows him as the second Nintendo figure to be recognised this way.

At the ceremony, Aonuma thanked the fans, his colleagues and his wife. He said the award belongs to the many developers he has worked with, rather than to him alone.

The fact that I am standing here today is not due to my own efforts alone.

The item does not say whether there are further plans for the award, so that is all the detail there is for now.
