Muramasa Revenant Blades Devs Explain Why The Series Is Returning

The team behind Muramasa Revenant Blades has shared why the Muramasa series is returning after so many years.

The original Muramasa: The Demon Blade was made for Wii. Marvelous last revisited the game with Muramasa Rebirth on PS Vita, which came out more than a decade ago.

Producer Makoto Shiota and director Wataru Nakanishi spoke in an interview with Denfaminico Gamer. Nakanishi said there were many requests from fans to revive the series.

Shiota said there had always been voices within Marvelous that wanted The Demon Blade playable on current hardware, and the two companies had many discussions about it before the timing lined up. Nakanishi said he was involved with the original game early in his career and has a strong attachment to it. Muramasa Revenant Blades heads to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch on February 4, 2027.
