Ayakashi Fishing Folktails Announced For Worldwide Switch 2 And Switch Release
Natsume has announced that Ayakashi Fishing Folktails is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch with a new English version, and the title is slated for mid-2027.
The game has just come out in Japan, and it blends realistic fishing with supernatural folklore. Its scenic Japanese settings are a big part of the appeal.
You play as a young man who sets out on a freshwater fishing trip with a group of supernatural companions called Ayakashi after a mysterious dream. The aim is to lift a curse that drains the colour from the world by catching the Cursed Lords of the rivers and lakes, while also helping the Ayakashi with their own problems.
The game has over 100 fish species, including real fish and original monster fish. You'll study habitats, log your catches in the Fish Encyclopedia, and pick gear, bait and timing, such as fishing at night or in the rain. There are eight rivers, lakes and ponds to explore, and a stream fishing rod that needs no reeling. Natsume's Hiro Maekawa said:
We are excited to partner with Imagineer and Toybox for the opportunity to bring Ayakashi Fishing Folktails to the West.
